“ Me & my SO come here about once a week and love to support small businesses. We love their Ramen, meat is tender, broth is packed with flavor and its not too salty just right. He gets the Habanero Tonkatsu & I just get the regular as I can't handle the heat. Employees are always so helpful and sweet. If you're looking for some Ramen this definitely the place to go. Will be back again next week. Thank you!!! ”
“ I always know what to expect when I come to Ramen Champ. Their quality is very consistent. Plenty of flavor. Very rich and tasty and fresh ingredients. My absolute favorite is the yuzu shoyu ramen. The atmosphere is as good as it can possibly get. It is small and it is in an area that's not as pleasing for the curb appeal, but I'm just so grateful that it's right across the street from my work so I can get this wonderful tasting and delicious ramen when I'm craving for it. The service is always consistently good. They do get busy on occasion. But it's definitely worth the wait. ”
“ Came back after a 1 year gap. My go to is Shoyu Ramen. They've changed their recipe since the last time I've been here. The shoyu ramen is completely different from their original and its more like the Tokyo style. The noodles are thinner and they use pork belly meat instead of the pork shoulder. Wait staff was attentive and I'm happy they updated the QR codes. Before getting the QR code to scan was difficult, now not so much. ”
“ I tried spicy miso and yuzu shio ramen. Yuzu shio was light flavor and spicy miso was rich flavor. I liked thin noodles. I didn't expect the wait on Saturday night but there was a line so I switched to take out the food. I think this ramen's quality is pretty good. My favorite ramen place in south San Jose. ”
“ Overall big thumbs up. A tiny place serving up big flavors. One of the few to offer miso ramen and delicious at that. I love the quality of the food most of all. Definitely one to put on your list. FOOD: I love their attention to detail and the flavor of the food. It always seems high quality and doesn't taste like it came out of the freezer. Ramen is in their name and they do it great. Highly recommended! SERVICE: Always top notch. Everything is packed well. The staff is friendly. And they obviously care about their place. The portions are a nice size and like I said the quality is terrific. COST: Not bad for what you get. Comparable to other ramen places but when coupled with the quality and flavor this puts it near the top. If it were t so far from us we would go more often. ”
“ Ramen Champ is one of those hidden gems that both locals and ramen enthusiasts can't stop talking about. I first discovered this spot in June of 2023 for one key reason: their signature Jiro-style ramen--and let me tell you, it's something you won't find anywhere else in the Bay Area. This massive, show-stopping bowl is a pork lover's dream, layered with generous amounts of pork essence, bean sprouts, garlic, and a drizzle of luscious pork backfat. Hearty, unapologetically rich, and absolutely bursting with flavor, Jiro style is a serious comfort food that sets Ramen Champ apart from the typical ramen joint. Another unique offering is the Habanero Tonkotsu Ramen, perfect for those who crave a fiery kick. It starts with a creamy tonkotsu base, then steps up the heat with a lively habanero punch. The spice never overwhelms; instead, it complements the richness of the pork bone broth, leaving a satisfying burn that warms you from within. This bowl should be on your radar if you love a little (or a lot of) heat in your ramen. Of course, there's much more to love at Ramen Champ, including their classic lineup of Shio, Shoyu, Miso, and Tsukemen. Shio Ramen Shio ramen is notoriously difficult to perfect, but Ramen Champ nails it. The broth is delicate yet deeply savory--like a gentle ocean breeze that coaxes natural flavors rather than masking them. You'll notice a clear, golden hue that speaks to a meticulous cooking process, with no shortcuts taken. Toppings like silky pork slices, bamboo shoots, spring onions, and wood ear mushrooms enhance the subtle brilliance of salt-based seasoning. It's rare to find a shio this balanced, proving that simplicity done right can be utterly unforgettable. Shoyu Ramen For a classic soy sauce experience, the Shoyu ramen delivers. The broth balances savory layers of soy flavor with a comforting warmth without ever becoming too salty or one-note. You'll spot familiar ingredients--menma, nori, and melt-in-your-mouth chashu--each element harmoniously supports the soy sauce base. Hearty yet not heavy, it's the perfect bowl for those craving old-school ramen nostalgia. Miso Ramen Prefer something creamier and full of depth? The Miso ramen hits the mark. Ramen Champ blends different miso pastes to craft an earthy, sweet broth brimming with umami. Toppings like sweet corn, bean sprouts, and succulent pork chashu reveal the flavor profile. Each sip feels warm and comforting, making it a must-try after something rich and satisfying. Tsukemen Though it may not be the best tsukemen you've ever had, Ramen Champ's version still shines in its own right. Thick, chewy noodles are served separately, inviting you to dip them into a concentrated broth with savory goodness. The sauce clings beautifully to each strand, and a side of minced garlic lets you dial up the flavor. It's a fun, interactive way to enjoy ramen--proof that Ramen Champ's kitchen knows how to do more than just the classics. Overall, Ramen Champ excels at taking foundational ramen styles and giving each one a special touch. The highly sought-after Jiro-style ramen is what first drew me here, and it's a bowl that truly sets this place apart in the Bay Area. Factor in the fiery Habanero Tonkotsu, the perfectly executed Shio, and a lineup of other traditional favorites, and you've got a ramen destination that's well worth a visit. With friendly service, a cozy ambiance, and bowls that cater to both purists and spice lovers alike, Ramen Champ is bound to keep you coming back for more. ”
“ Huge thank you to Shogo and his team for helping me make a department lunch happen. I had a short notice to arrange lunch meals on a tight budget for 100 people, but Ramen Champ not only delivered in prices but quality as well! Shogo was able to cater 105 meals x (half portion appetizers, entree, and lychee sorbet) well before their usual open hours and was very kind to help me and my team load the food into our cars. We selected the Teriyaki Karaage Rice Bowls, Mazesobas, and Potato Curry Rice Bowls for our celebration. Ramen Champ offers vegetarian alternatives, and so we had a very inclusive spread for our staff. We received many compliments from the diversity of our staff. The lychee sorbet was really sweet but was still enjoyable for our team members. The Mazesobas was an adventurous option, but it was one of the most popular choices from our staff. ”
“ Found this gem down the street from my house. The ramen here is fantastic and the service is great here! The broth and noodles are flavorful! I usually get the pork ramen ! Their chicken Kara-age is good as well! The place does get packed inside so go early or order to go! Eating there is much better! ”
“ Good experience overall at Ramen Champ yesterday at 12:30. We looked at the busyness level from another review page online and were surprised it was low so we went for it! It's a small restaurant, but it's cozy! My husband had a craving for ramen on this cold day so I thought it was a good chance for me to broaden my food horizons. ;) Funny enough, I had never tried ramen before. It was a bit of a letdown when there was a sign on the door that Tonkotsu Ramen was unavailable, but hopefully this isn't a common thing... My husband said that is the flavor he always orders. In this case we opted to split the Shoyu Ramen. We ordered extra noodles for the perfect, shareable lunch. The portions are huge and it was great to split. We had edamame to start and I was feeling extra brazen so I ordered the fried octopus balls. I have to say the Takoyaki was not for my taste, but that must just be my taste buds because they seem very popular from reading the reviews. I appreciated the QR code to easily order and pay ahead. We opted for a window seat to have a bit more privacy and it was a nice lunch. I will hopefully be back to try the Tonkatsu Ramen since I did like the Shoyu Ramen. ;) ”
